Margaret V. Goembel - Artist's Statement

Incorporating natural materials collected along beaches and other coastal areas in mixed media assemblages is similar to creating and solving a complex puzzle.  Colors, shapes, sizes, textures, and graphic appeal contribute to the overall mood to evoke personal memories of walking the beach and discovering its many wonders and restorative qualities to mind and soul. Along my artistic journey using local and sustainable materials collected during my world-wide travels, I unwittingly became involved in the “use and re-use” environmental and ecological groundswells.

Reflecting my passion for the ocean and all things coastal or tropical, my unique artwork is suitable for display in semi-protected exterior environments such as a wall by the front entryway or on the lanai as well as homes or offices. Providing brief factoids adds to viewers’ enjoyment and appreciation of diverse coastal artifacts and our environment.
