Jill Kerwick

Artist Statement

These paintings are from memories of moments of heightened awareness. First I capture the moment in a small pencil sketch while remembering the experience. After the initial sketch, I do some research, sometimes using figures from art history. I try out different color palettes from paintings that I like. There is a playful innocence without censoring myself too much. I give more attention to the fleeting moments.
